Camp FAQs
Have Questions?
Everything you want to know before you treat yourself to a life changing week of clowning.
What makes Moose Camp different?
Since 1996 we have trained clowns from total beginners to seasoned pros in every part of the art of funny business, in a non-competitive and non-political atmosphere. We are the premier clown arts school for adults in America.
Who can come to camp?
Adults 17 and older. We have programs for folks who have never put on make-up before, and longtime clowns come to learn new skills and recharge their batteries.
Who teaches at camp?
Every staff member has worked as a professional clown, with backgrounds in street performing, fairs, parties, stage, circus, mime, and magic. Meet the instructors.
What is a PEP (Personal Education Plan)?
A one on one, 30 minute call before camp with founder Tricia Manuel (Pricilla Mooseburger). She answers your questions and builds a plan for your course and workshops. A sign up link goes out in the spring.
What is the difference between a course and a workshop?
A course is a focused morning intensive (about 9 hours over the week) with the same small group and instructor. Workshops are hour long afternoon classes you can pick and choose. See all classes.
What is the E-Workbook?
A PDF packed with articles, worksheets, and more, collected over 25+ years of camp. It arrives by email so you can start learning before camp begins.
What is the Prop Shop?
A make it and take it space. Build a kazoo horn for the clown band, a prop for your gag, or a walk around prop to take home. Staff are there to help, and a small materials fee applies.
What is the All Star Clown Show?
Camp ends with a free public show starring you and your fellow campers. You rehearse daily with a coach, and backdrops, sound, scripts, props, and specialty costumes are all provided. Alumni say it is the highlight of the week!
What are the cabins like?
Camp is held at a facility designed for disabled adults, so the modern, air conditioned cabins are all on one level and fully accessible. Rooms are shared by two, each cabin has two large bathrooms, and a limited number of single rooms are available.
How does the payment plan work?
Pay in full, or register with a deposit and we split the balance into monthly payments through May 1st. After May, registration is paid in full. See registration.
How do I get to camp?
Fly into Minneapolis by noon on camp day and ride the Moose Camp shuttle bus. If you need to arrive early, stay at our discounted Early Bird Hotel and the shuttle will pick you up there.
Are scholarships available?
Yes! Each year we award the Claudia Nilson Memorial Scholarship. Learn more and apply.
